Privacy Policy

Plug PCs ("we", "us"), operated by PLUG PCS LLC, runs a public catalog that helps you compare computers across brands and click through to buy from manufacturers and retailers. This policy explains what we collect and how advertising and affiliate links work. We keep data collection to a minimum and do not sell your personal information for money.

Information we collect

• Browsing. You can browse, search and compare without an account, and browsing asks for nothing about you. The "recently viewed" list on your own screen is kept in your browser's local storage. Separately, the site counts which product pages are viewed, as an anonymous list of products with nothing about who viewed them.
• The website you arrived from. If you reach us by following a link on another website, we count the visit, and the product views and outbound clicks made during it, under that website's name alone (for example "news.ycombinator.com"), per day. We keep only the site name: never the address of the page you came from, and nothing that identifies you or links one visit to another. Your browser remembers that name in its session storage until you close the tab; no cookie is set. None of this is read, stored or counted for visitors in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, or when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
• Outbound clicks. When you click a "where to buy" or referral link we count the click: the source and brand, the website it leads to, whether the link was an affiliate link, the kind of page you clicked from, and the product's category, counted per day. The record holds no IP address, no device identifier and nothing else that identifies you.
• Feedback you submit. If you use the Feedback button we store your message and, only if you choose to provide it, your email address, so we can follow up.
• Price-drop alerts. If you sign up for price-drop emails or a price alert on a product, we store your email address, the product you are watching, and whether you confirmed the signup. Every email carries an unsubscribe link.
• Requests you send us. When you book or request tech support, ask us to find and price a product ("Buy direct"), send a parts list for review, or send a business inquiry, we store what you enter in the form: typically your name, email address, phone number, your location for an on-site visit, and the details of your request. We use it to answer and to do the work you asked for.
• Shareable parts lists. When you create a shareable parts list, we store only the parts you pasted and the catalog products we matched them to, under a public link anyone holding it can open. No name, email or account is attached.
• Payments. If you pay us, the payment is processed by Stripe. We receive a record of the payment (amount, status, and the contact details you gave), never your full card number.
• Phone calls and texts. If you call, text or leave a voicemail on our support line, we keep the phone number, the time and length of the call, and calls may be recorded and transcribed so we can follow up accurately.
• Abuse protection. To stop spam and floods, each form and click counter keeps a short-lived tally keyed to a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, deleted within a few hours. A submitted form also keeps a hash of your IP address that changes daily, for abuse investigation only.
• Server logs. Our host (Cloudflare) processes standard request data such as IP address and browser type to serve and secure the site.

Cookies & advertising

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to our site and others.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices. For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google's policies.

Affiliate links & affiliate-network tracking

Some outbound links to manufacturers and retailers are affiliate links, served through affiliate networks. The networks we work with are CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction LLC, part of Publicis Groupe), impact.com (Impact Tech, Inc.), Awin (AWIN AG), and FlexOffers (FlexOffers.com, LLC).

How the tracking works. When you click an affiliate link, your browser passes through the network's own domain on the way to the retailer, and the network places a cookie on your device at that moment so the retailer can credit the referral to us. If you then buy something, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Browsing Plug PCs does not set an affiliate referral cookie; only clicking an affiliate link does. Separately, for visitors outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, our pages may load these networks' on-page scripts: impact.com's measurement "publisher tag", and, when the corresponding program is active, CJ's Deep Link Automation, Awin's Publisher MasterTag, or FlexOffers' FlexLinks. These measure how often affiliate links are viewed and clicked and convert eligible merchant links into tracked affiliate links; they may use cookies or similar identifiers as described in each network's privacy policy. Affiliate relationships never affect the specifications we show or how products are ranked or ordered.

Amazon. When our Amazon links are active we take part in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon may place and read cookies on your browser when you follow one of those links, as described in Amazon's Privacy Notice on amazon.com. We never show Amazon prices on our pages; the link takes you to Amazon for the current price.

Each network describes the data it collects, how it uses it, and how to exercise your rights in its own notice: CJ Affiliate, impact.com, Awin, and FlexOffers. You can avoid affiliate cookies entirely by not using our outbound "where to buy" links, by blocking third-party cookies in your browser, or by clearing cookies after visiting.

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

We do not yet operate a consent-management platform, so we do not serve affiliate tracking links to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and we do not load Google AdSense or any affiliate-network script (impact.com's publisher tag, CJ's Deep Link Automation, Awin's Publisher MasterTag, FlexOffers' FlexLinks) for those visitors. If you are browsing from those regions, our outbound links point straight at the manufacturer or retailer with any affiliate tracking removed, no affiliate network sits in between, and no advertising or affiliate cookie is set by us or our partners. We also do not record which website you arrived from. Should that ever change, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

How we use information

We use what you send us to answer you and to do the work you asked for, feedback to improve the catalog, and aggregate click data to understand which sources shoppers find useful. We do not sell or rent personal data for money. Google uses cookies and similar identifiers on our pages for advertising, as described above, which some US state privacy laws treat as "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising; you can opt out with the Google settings linked above or by blocking third-party cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as that opt-out: our pages ask Google for non-personalized ads only, and we do not record which website you arrived from. We do not run any ad platform's conversion pixel on our pages.

Sharing

We share data only with the providers that run the site and our services (Cloudflare for hosting and security, Google for advertising, Stripe for payments, VoIP.ms for our phone line, and our affiliate networks CJ Affiliate, impact.com, Awin, FlexOffers and, when active, Amazon Associates for affiliate-link measurement and click tracking, as described above) and with the retailers and manufacturers you choose to visit. Each is governed by its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

Click, view and referring-website counts are aggregate and hold nothing about you. Abuse-protection tallies are deleted within a few hours. Price-alert signups are kept until you unsubscribe. Requests, payments, calls and our correspondence with you are kept as business records for as long as we need them for the service, accounting and legal obligations; you can ask us to delete yours at any time, and we will unless the law requires us to keep it.

• Opt out of personalized ads using the links above.
• Avoid affiliate cookies by not clicking outbound "where to buy" links.
• Don't include an email when sending feedback if you'd prefer to stay anonymous.
• Use your browser settings to block or clear cookies.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. We hold very little: unless you emailed us or chose to leave an address with feedback, we have no way to identify you. To make a request, or to ask what we hold, email support@plugpcs.com. Children

Plug PCs is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
